It is a misnomer that you can share to five machines. In actuality, 1 specific PSN account can be "activated" on 5 total machines. Sony will not deactivate your activations, even if the account is linked to dead machines, machines that were sent in for repair and you ended up some other refurb model.
You can manually deactivate these before sending it into repair, though. At least, you can if the unit isn't totally screwed. Take heed!
