free mcboot 1.5 help please

greetings i have been reading through forums and the web to come over my problem but so far its getting frustrating ;(

first i made a boot (DVD) with ulaunchelf v4.12, it was some kinda long process but finally i was able to browse the usb and memory cards, i had the free_mcboot.elf on the usb drive, i launched it, and installed it (after formating the mc0), now the problem, the ps2 wont boot i reached red screen once, and the later attempts was all black screens only, any idea what i am doing wrong please?

extract the BOOT.ELF it contains and put it on USB
using the uLAunchElf dvd, open your USB drive, copy the boot.elf and paste it into a folder named BOOT on MC

(if there's no BOOT folder, create one using R1, new dir)

this will fix it

there was a boot.elf which i assume made by the free mcboot 1.5, i coppied the boot.elf from link up, pasted in /boot directory on mem0, still black screen ;(

If you have a file named BOOT.ELF in the same location as the installer when its run, it will install that BOOT.ELF to mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF

If you make a folder on your USB stick BOOT/BOOT.ELF , after installing, this will be loaded instead, so when you want to just use the normal PS2 without anything booting, just take out the USB stick during bootup of the console. Then when you want to run the app, put the USB stick back in and select Launch Free McBoot from the PS2 main menu screen, where it is added.

i cant boot anything except from dvd, whenever now i boot from MC, sometimes its black screen or screen flickers then i go to default PS2 browser with no data message, my ps2 is scph-39004 if that will help, all i want is to be able to boot from MC

sounds like your MC isnt seated right in the slot, try pulling it out and pushing it back in and see if it shows in the browser.

I have one that does the same thing and thats what its problem is, it will show in a certain spot in the MC slot, but sometimes it wont show at all in the PS2 browser, unless i pull it and put it back in.

its not showing in ps2 browser, other mc shows fine, note that the mc in question is the one formatted by fmcb 1.5 and installed on it.

Did you try 'moving' it around a little while in the MC slot, just to see if it will suddenly show up? I found out by accident that mine was 'worn' when i was trying to pull it out, it flashed a MC icon, then i knew it was just worn in a certain spot and had to put in while in the PS2 browser to be sure it was fully connected in the port.

it shows now in ps2 browser, yet cant boot still, am gonna try expirementing with another mc i own after i back up the saved data

formatted a new mc and installed fmcb on it, i removed the dvd, stick was still in the machine and i rebooted loaded but there was some error message that was unable to load launch something .cnf, i removed the usb stick and tried to reboot to check if i am able to boot with mc alone, nothing ;( black screen only i know i might be missing something am just not sure what it is

update: was able to boot 2 times in raw to ulaunchelf, but not anymore, i am not sure whats wrong coz this is really wierd hehe and when ulaunchelf loads it gives this message in upper left side : failed to load launchelf.cnf yet i can browse the mc and the usb stick
