Ps2 Graphic Messed Up

My ps2 model SCPH-39001 has a problem with graphic's that they flicker and sometimes you my get 2 half screens with a black bar through middle. If i reset it, it still has problem. If i go into system configuration and turn main power off and turn system on it works again.

Sometimes it does work for the time I use it and other times it my work for a little then have the problem.

I tired...
1. Tapping the motherboard and psu. Nothing Changed

2. Heating up the heat sink more and that sometimes got a change and other times nothing.

3. I cooled heat sink down more then ps2 fan could and that sometimes caused it and other times nothing.

4. I took heat sink off and turned it on. Nothing changed

So I cant say heating and cooling is the problem since sometime it did the problem and other time it didn't change nothing.

A split screen with a black bar down the middle sounds like a cable problem.

Are you using a component cable with progessive scan? Maybe try a new cable or in the system config set the "Component Video Out" to RGB to see if it is your cable causing the problem.

I'm using the composite cable and i tried two others and still happens. The black line is going horizontal. I never changed any configuration it just happened out of no were. The graphics are fine when turned on, it after a random amount of time it goes crazy and words disappear.

Sometimes on the ps2 menu were it say browser and configuration there will be no words just the x and o but you still can go to browser and configuration and they will have no word neither.

graphics is dieing so bake it
i only say this as i was given a laptop with same problems
stripped it down and pre heated oven to 200c
put the lappy in for 7 minutes and bamp it now works

Hmm sounds like an idea bake it..

Well I had another ps2 of same model but heat sink design, power supply and laser was different. I swapped the whole DVD drive with a 400R laser from the graphic problem one to my other one that had a bad 400C laser. Its been working great so far.

I baked it for 8 minutes at 392F/200C and Surprisingly its been working.
