Use PS3 controller on windows.
This is a guide to successfully connect and use a PS3 controller on x32 and x64 versions of windows by USB or Bluetooth. This has been tested by me personally on Vista x64 and it works really well. I have tested it by both connection methods. It even has a function to emulate the 360 controller for M$ games like Braid.

Re: Use PS3 controller on windows.
I'm using Vista X86 and I tried to follow this same guide once before but it didn't work for me. I got down to the bit where it shows you the notepad popup then all I got after restarting was 4 blinking red lights and that was it. I'm now using an Xbox 360 wired pad.

Re: Use PS3 controller on windows.
when you rebooted you pc did you boot to safe mode and choose Disable driver signature enforcement? Usually that is the key. after you do that it should install the proper driver and you should be ok.

Re: Use PS3 controller on windows.
Ok, I'm now up to step 6 when I press the ps button to wake up the controller, all I'm getting is the 4 blinking red lights again and then nothing. This is becoming a pain in the ass again. lol

Re: Use PS3 controller on windows.
did you boot into safe mode and Disable driver signature enforcement? you're using a different guide than the one I linked to. Even though that is the official tutorial, the one I linked seems easier. did a notepad window open up?

Re: Use PS3 controller on windows.
you may have to reinstall the drivers again. after you plug the controller into the usb port you get the flashing red lights right. ok, reinstall the usb drivers again then reboot into safe mode and Disable driver signature enforcement. after it reboots open the motionin joy program from the location by your clock. it should recognize the controller and you should have one light on the controller.

Update: I did what you said, now I have got the red lights on my pad going across from 1-4 repeatedly and there is no icon next to my clock. Update 2: I have just tested it and it's working now. The DS3 Tool on the other hand doesn't work.

Re: Use PS3 controller on windows.
whenever you go into control panel and then into game controllers, do you see motionin joy listed? At least you got it to work now.
