You could always look at this as a way of getting people to start patching games, more people want games on the HD, not as many work, so lets all get trying to make them work.

HOW? I read the Hex editing tutorial on PS2HD, but where does a person go from there? How does a person find out what is causing the game not to work? How do people go about figuring it all out?I know C++. LoL

Whoever does eventually patch these games should write a guide on how he/she went about it. I guess there aren't any tutorials on "How to patch the new PS2 games to work with HDLoader" are there. Darn. Anything similar?

Wonderful. I've got a Hex editor and about 1 Trillion lines of hex within 1 Million files. That's if Hex editing would even fix it. Maybe the games were programmed to sense a hard drive, and turn it off? Not any amount of Hex Editing would fix a compiled program. I guess I don't get what you are actually changing with hex editing, since I thought compiled programs couldn't be altered....aka Source Code changes. Uhg.....Just like everything else so advanced.

Somebody should make a new homebrew program that loads games off the hard-drive with more compatibility. Yeah!

Re: What do you think of the new games incompatible with HDLoader?

There is a list of known strings to search and replace, there is a guide etc. OK it isnt simple, but not everything is, just because it isnt simple doesnt mean people shouldnt try, if we all thought like that we would have very little homebrew.

Different games do different things when run from hdd. Socom 2/3 boots then goes back to PS2 browser while others boot and hang on a black screen. My guess is that Socom 2/3 try to access the DVD drive and not the HD, like its hardcoded with full path names not local ones, so its a case of finding that bit in the hex and changing it so it reads the hd not the dvd. Using logic to get forward always helps. Thats just one example, I havent tried any of the others which dont work so dont know how they behave, but think about it logically, check the patch forum for hints on what to look for and go look, change, etc

this is not true!

this isn't even true. All of the lastest batch of games do work like American Wasteland, the warriors, Blitz the League. Just because a few games didn't work some reason people thnk that none will. Its still only a small portion of the total games.

Re: this is not true!

read the poll question again psxtradr. it says " What do you think of the new games incompatible with HDLoader?" i never said "What do you think of ALL the new games being incompatible with HDLoader".

Re: What do you think of the new games incompatible with HDLoader?

there have been a batch of new games which have been incompatible for HDLoader. i was referring to those. i suppose i should have worded it better. something like "What do you think of the new games THAT ARE incompatible with HDLoader?"

Re: What do you think of the new games incompatible with HDLoader?

I sucks some of the new games don't work but oh well there is a shitload that still do. If it is sony thats causing it its a dollar short and a day late considering PS3 is right around the corner. I think that most of the games could work still if there was people working on it. I personally don't think many people care about HDloader anymore since other lame sites steal their work and make profit off of it. I also think another reason shit doesn't get done is because they way some of the people who contribute apps or patches are treated by some of the users. If something doesn't work properly or it has bugs they get flamed big time. Who wants to make stuff when most of the time you get bitched at by whiney lil noobs. IMHO nothing killed the scene but the scene itself
